A shelf is not a catalogue

Anyone who drinks loose leaf ends up with a shelf: tins from a trip, samples from a subscription, a gift with a label nobody can read, and three bags of the same green tea because you forgot you had it. What is missing is not storage — it is knowing what each of them is and how to brew it.

Teafinity turns the shelf into a catalogue. Each tea you save carries a full profile: origin, flavour profile, health benefits, pairings, caffeine in milligrams, temperature in °C and °F, ratio per 250 ml, and both Western and Gong Fu schedules.

176 teas, curated rather than scraped

The library is 176 core teas across black, green, white, oolong, pu-erh and herbal, plus 80 seasonal blends. Every one of them was written and checked rather than harvested from vendor blurbs, which is why each has real brewing schedules — often 5 to 12 distinct infusion timings — instead of a rounded 'steep 3–5 minutes'.

The whole library is fully localized, and the same brewing numbers appear in every language. You can read every profile on this website too: the type hubs list all of them, sorted by what readers in your language open most.

Seasonal collections and missing teas

Beyond the core library, 80 seasonal blends are grouped into winter, spring, summer and autumn collections that rotate through the year — spiced winter chai, spring first flushes and blossom teas, fruit-forward summer greens built for cold brewing, roasted autumn oolongs and orchard blends.

If something on your shelf genuinely is not in the library, Premium subscribers can request it. That has been one of the more satisfying loops in the app: readers ask, the tea gets researched and added, and it appears for everyone in every language.

From tin to catalogue in three taps

The workflow is deliberately short. Find the tea — by name, by type, or by pointing the camera at it — open its profile, save it. From then on it sits in your collection with its full brewing data attached, and the timer for that exact tea is one tap away whenever you reach for the tin.

Teas you cannot name are the case that breaks most tea apps, which is precisely why photo identification exists: the anonymous bag gets catalogued rather than staying anonymous on the shelf. And if it turns out to hold something the library does not carry yet, requesting it beats giving up on it.
